The story of Tigerwalah is intrinsically woven with Anurag’s personal journey and love for India’s wilderness, especially Tigers. His initial fascination with Ranthambore eventually led to a mesmerising first tiger sighting after a three-year wait—an encounter with the Lady of the Lakes- Machli and her 3 cubs. This sighting profoundly impacted him, leaving no looking back. This moment ignited an insatiable curiosity and a deep desire to learn more about the captivating world of these magnificent cats.
What began as his heartfelt endeavour to share daily sighting updates soon blossomed into a comprehensive, informative blog, becoming a trusted go-to resource for enthusiasts seeking insights into the park and its iconic tigers. This commitment to authentic, detailed information also led to a groundbreaking initiative: Anurag conceptualised and designed the first-ever comprehensive tiger database, a pioneering effort to document the intricate lineage, significant life history moments, and daily sighting records of Ranthambore’s tigers. This unique repository, unmatched in its depth, quickly established Tigerwalah as an authoritative and trusted source. To further expand his knowledge and scientific understanding, Anurag pursued a course in Wildlife Conservation from the prestigious Wildlife Institute of India (WII). This academic pursuit significantly broadened his expertise in critical areas like biodiversity, contemporary conservation challenges, and the effective use of scientific tools in conservation efforts.
We are thrilled to introduce Ruturaj Patil as the newest member of our star team. With a postgraduate degree in management studies, Ruturaj is not only a skilled naturalist but also a passionate wildlife photographer and trekker. Having worked at some of India’s finest biodiversity hotspots – Amboli and Chikmaglur in the Western Ghats, Kanha and Pench in Central India, Jawai in Aravalis – Ruturaj’s love for reptiles, amphibians, and tigers has led him to call these places home. His adventures have taken him to various parts of India, exploring numerous forests and wildlife habitats.
Beyond wildlife, Ruturaj is a PADI certified Scuba diver and an avid cyclist, having covered an impressive 1400 km on a single trip from Kolhapur to Kanyakumari in western India. With aspirations to work with elephants and to experience all the world’s adventure sports, Ruturaj’s dedication and passion are truly inspiring.
